Week 10- Six Predictions About Digital Marketing

The world of Digital Marketing is always growing and always changing. In order to keep up with the latest trends and forms of communication on social media, marketers need to be able to understand social media and be able to forecast how it will change next. This post is about six predictions about the Digital Marketing world. The six predictions are: Less articles and more interactive content, creating and distributing content through a group not personally, paying for ads in order to be seen, using influencer marketing, not counting on Google as main website for traffic, and multiple channel communication with customers.

With how people want news on the go and quick, there is less and less time for lengthy articles and ads. What may happen is there might be more things such as short quizzes and surveys that people can create to get people looking due to the quick and simple nature of the interactive material. This could happen since people don't like to be held up in things for more than five minutes usually and the interactive material makes it so that the audience is constantly doing something and engaged so they can retain what they see.

The next prediction is that personally creating and distributing your content will no longer be effective. More and more marketers are using third party groups to help aid in the creation and distribution of ads. Working with these groups helps marketers stay in the game when it comes to other marketing firms trying to compete with them. These groups also do a majority of the "dirty" work, so when a marketing firm hires these groups, they are collaborating to get the most amount of work done.

A third prediction is that most ads are being paid for now on free platforms of social media. Sure, using social media as a way to get your name, product, and ads out in the digital world is useful. But the companies that can afford to pay for ad space, which is most of the big marketing firms, are able to reach a greater number of people since they pay for ad space. It is hard to compete with that when you are a smaller group and you don't have the funds to pay for spaces. But most places now are moving towards paying due to the fact that if they don't then they are just getting further and further behind the competition.

Another prediction is that influencer marketing is being more of a requirement. Influencer marketing is partnering with other non-competing leaders in your space and using them to help spread your message. It is hiring an outside group that isn't in competition with you in order to influence others to look at your group or ad. This is very useful especially if the group that you partner with is well known. This way with the help of their social media, your message can reach a greater number of people.

A fifth prediction is that Google will not be a main website for traffic. Google is very useful, but like everything, it changes. And when Google goes through its internal changes to their programming and other things, it will essentially cut your traffic. Also due to the number of groups that have paid for ad spacing withing your area are all competing for the top paid ad spot and this will end up costing you more and more money to keep the same ad space.

The final prediction is that groups will personalize conversations with customers across multiple channels. This means that the group will have a lot of customers that will be trying to reach out to them and communicate with them. What might happen is that marketers will now have more personal conversations with each client in order to create a better connection and build trust between marketer and client.

These predictions are pretty sound and most likely will happen. Seeing this ahead of time and starting to see how you and your group will handle these changes is key and will help with your group being the most to-date group in the market.
