Week 3- Three Avoidable Digital Marketing Mistakes
With Digital Marketing growing and expanding into one of the best forms of marketing, there are many ways for a page to be below average, and realistically the mistakes are avoidable. Besides grammar and formatting issues there are three big mistakes that can easily be avoided to make anyone's marketing campaign better. These three mistakes are: poor planning, unrealistic expectations, and a lack of information.
Poor planning is a company not realizing what they do, who their competition is, who their target market is, and the channels that they need to use in order to market to the optimal number of people. When there is poor planning it is not only a waste of money for the company, but also a waste of time and opportunity. This means that instead of spending their money marketing to the right channels and people, they are spending money to only reach a fraction of people instead of a larger number. Also they waste their time and give their competition the chance to steal potential customers from them.
Unrealistic expectations are when a company thinks that they should be at a certain point right after they start their marketing campaign. This leads to companies hastily changing their strategy because they don't think that what they originally did is working. When marketing, you have to realize, especially if you are new and smaller, that what you are trying to market will take time to get the name out. Just let time take its course and let your strategy work.
The final mistake is not being informed. Especially when dealing with a marketing budget, the person in charge needs to see exactly how their funds are being spent and analyze where to move or change funding. If there is one area that has been growing and it has been tracked and analyzed, as the supervisor, you mat need to move funds from one area that is lacking and move it into the area that has the most views.
Avoiding these three mistakes will allow a company to have a successful marketing campaign. Plus this will help the person in charge see exactly where and how to be tweaking and improvising their campaign.
