Week 5- Do's and Don'ts on a Facebook Page
When it comes to making a successful Facebook page, there are some major aspects that should be addressed and other aspects that should be avoided. These do's and don'ts will help your Facebook page reach the maximum amount of people and get your message across. Some things to do when creating a page are: realizing your limitations and staying relevant to your audience. Some don'ts are: posting just to post and boosting when unnecessary.
The do's of realizing limitations and staying relevant are very important when wanting to make a successful page. When dealing with limitations, you should set a bar that you should be above in the amount of people like your page, how often you post, and how many people your information reaches. This can be done naturally, which is the free way, or there is an option to boost your page for a payment. By boosting a page you can reach people around your area so the name of your company or organization gets out to places around you. This boost can be helpful or it can harm your page, but that will be addressed in the don'ts section. With staying relevant, you not only want to keep your posts and other things relevant to the message that you are trying to get across, but also make sure that you post enough to keep the people that liked the page coming back. There is a amount that you should post, one or twice a week is enough, if you post too much people will not want to look at it because there can't be that much important information to continuously post, but if you don't post for weeks on end, people lose interest. Finding the balance is key to running a successful page. Doing these things will help in the start of making an interesting and liked Facebook page.
With the do's, there are some don't to keep you page prosperous. These don'ts are: posting just to post and boosting when unnecessary. For a Facebook page to be successful, the page should have posts that keep the people that have liked the page interested and involved. But there comes a point when the posts are involving and interesting, and when they are just boring and done just for the sake of posting. These type of posts should be avoided do to the fact that they only disinterest people and make your page less attractive to Facebook users. As said earlier, the optimum number of posts for a Facebook page is one to two times a week. This way the users expect a weekly update and come to hope for it, which makes them visit your page more often. The other don't is boosting when unnecessary. If you think boosting is a good idea, think about it before you act. You should try to visualize if boosting could actually help you or if it is just a money pit. If you rationally think that boosting could help, then go ahead and boost, but if there is doubt, then don't because it will only lead to a loss of money and no improvement of you page.
So when you go to make a Facebook page for a business or organization, make sure to remember these do's and don'ts. If done correctly, your page will be at its maximum ability.
